I have to post this, and I hate doing it, BUT....

The new hardware will NOT be Equal to what the Amiga had.
It will be a serial processed system, and NON-upgradable.
The closest thing it will be is Linux, with amiga environment.

The software(OS 4), will NOT run any software that is hardware dependant. Those nice bliter maps, will be GONE. Mods(music format) will be GONE. Only about 20% will run, dont expect manny games, they are designing it for GRAPHICS only(ART, 3D).

Drivers... LMAO, not MANNY. They are not making it so that linux drivers will work with it, they are STARTING from scratch, and the drivers are not Current for the last year. Drivers are only being made for Certain cards ONLY, unless you wish to make them.

Might as well stick with Linux and run the Amiga UAE. Now They are still in the developement stage and selling the Mobo's at $800 each with linux and OS 3.9. I know, Im a bit of a purist when the Amiga comes to mind, but. The AMIGA was designed with Upto date CURRENT tech as its base hardware. And now we are taking a STEP back, just for Speed? It was PARRALLEL processed, not serial. If a piece of hardware failed, it DIDNT crash.

What the hell is an Amiga? (just kidding) Calm down there son, it sounds as if you're a bit upset... Buy yourself another 2000 for Christmas, probably pretty cheap these days.

The Amiga is amazingly hackable. I remember someone was emulating a Fat-Mac by using warez ROMs binaries as both the Mac and Amiga used the MC68000 CPU.

When I was playing around with the Amiga, I realized most programmers would hit the hardware pretty hard because the primitive Amiga OS was woefully inadequate (wasn't until Kickstart v2.0 that it was semi-useful) and that to wring maximum performance out of a meager 8Mhz CPU, you would have to do very creative programming in ASM.

So when this new PPC Amiga came out, I was wondering how the heck they would emulate the hardware. I guess they didn't :(

That's too bad. Well, that's why some of us still have several Amigas lying around, for spare parts if nothing else..
