Wow, I just got my 60gb iPod photo working on my PC after recieving it yesterday morning. What a hassle, I ended up reformatting and re-installing to get it to work. Now after all of that I can't find a way to drag and drop my 50gb of well organized mp3's into my iPod? Is there a way to do this and keep my file structure? Hardly any of my music has the data required to be organized by genre, artist, album etc that iTunes seems to need to organize it. I've been collecting mp3's since the first days of napster. I'm frustrated beyond belief. Someone please tell me why everyone loves these things so much. I really thought every mp3 player on the planet could use a standard file system and browse it accordingly. If the iPod can't do it, than what should I have bought that can?

I'm going to go shoot myself now.

Why not use a utitlity to give the files their ID3 tags, then the IPod can sort it accordingly?

Well, That's excellent, but how will this utility really know what to name the songs? Sounds like a manual process.

Depends on what info is already there. The only way is to try it.

I thought you could just drag and drop the files on the iPod? I have never owned one, so I couldn't tell ya. We need Neuroking in here since he is the one that did that review.

Teknishun, almost all aplications for editing id3 tags can extract that information from filename, and also from folder structure: artist/album/song.mp3. And that should be just a few days work for you, and hundreds of days enjoying your music! ;)
Many people always talked how iPod is better then philips hdd because you don't have to use any software to transfer music. Obviusly they were wrong...

Thanks for the reply guys. Not only am I getting tired of dealing with the iPod's controlling nature, btw it can only have one level of subfolders for pictures, it's now $100 cheaper than a week ago. WTF? If buy.com doesn't refund me the $100 I'm going to return it and buy the Archos AV480. For reference, buy.com's customer support seems to be in India. Where's that flash movie about the dell support in India when I need it.

Sorry man, that totally sucks. It seems like everyones tech support is in India these days. Does Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/index.asp?CMP=BAC-dstnclink) have a good price on it?
