For some reason, some of the pictures I did in Photoshop have changed to a different icon. Usually the icon is a thumbnail of the picture itself, but they appear to be grabbing random icons. Whats up with this? How do I fix this?
did you recently install an app that took the mime-type of the images?
Typically .psd file icons are shown as the actual image. if you are talking about jpg/gif files then what view are you in? In explorer you can set to thumbnail view.

I just noticed this old thread and since the issue was not resolved (as far as I can tell) I thought I'd give it a bump.
I'm also getting the default Photoshop PSD icon instead of an image preview. This began as soon as I installed PSCS2 and I can't figure out why. I've got PS Preferences set to Always Save a preview image and Photoshop is the associated program for PSDs so mime-type shouldn't be an issue.
Suggestions?
Thanks

I have also noticed that some folders are not showing the image even though its set to thumbnail view. Same type of thing. Anyway to reset that?
