Hey Peeps,
My wife's computer started shutting down and rebooting on it's own for the past couple of days and now we can hardly get the thing to boot up at all. Weird as hell and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what is rong with it. Power supply going? On-board battery going? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

hi
dont know if this is of any help but i had the same problem on my system a while back and in the end was unable to do anything on it ,sent system in and found that it was a virus that had attacked my system and i had to have the hard drive wiped and formatted and a clean install this solved my problem.and now i run norton at all times and have not had the problem since.

I think its probably overheating. Try cleaning out the dust and running it with the door open to see if that helps. If it does, then try installing another fan to keep it cool in there.
Otherwise I am thinking your power supply is going bad.

Think I'll uncover it and give it a good cleaning before I try anything else....she has ALOT of important info on it that would need to be transfered, so I wouldnt know how to do that in it's present state.

Yeah it really sounds like a cooling issue to me.

Hey, that seems to have done the trick! Her PC had more dirt in it than a grave plot. Thanks!
I was working on a business computer.
Older machine, NEVER updated sence it was bought.
Was moving it out, for a newer sytem.
If was sluggish, and made a few weird sounds, so decided to open it up.
The company deils wells, and there is LOTs of dust in the environment, when I looked inside, I couldnt see the mobo, it was that dirty. COATED all over, and fans werent in the best of shape. Took can of air to the CPU fan, and FILLEd the room with DIRT. YES, DIRT, not DUST. decided to take outside and continue... The machine used 2 cans of air, and weighed 5lbs LESS(2kilos)...EVERYTHING had to be cleaned out..
