I have an RCA Lyra 1021A and just tried updating the firmare, I printed out the instructions and followed them exactly, and half way through it had an error and stopped the update, but the player was still saying USB transfer, then the computer froze and the MP3 player was stuck at USB Transfer.... so I popped the battery out hoping it would reset itself but I'm 100% sure I just screwed it up perminantly because of that. The player will now not turn on, it won't recognize in the computer and it won't update firmware at all. I've been to RCA's site and they said firmware can be corrupted but you can fix it.. Their fix didn't work for me. Has anyone else had any problems updating firmware on this or other lyras and if so what did you do to fix it? Thanks.

HI there I have the exact mp3 player the RCA Lyra 1021A. I bought it for my nephew as christmas gift. He wanted more songs on it so I told I would encode some mp3's at a lower bitrate to sqweeze more songs onto it. I have an mp3 player myself so i figured it was as easy as encoding some songs and just dragging and dropping from windows explorer. I'm running WinXP w/ SP2 so i for sure thought it was that simple. I reformatted the Lyra though windows exporer in FAT file format, (which I think may have corrupted the firmware) and then got about 30+ songs onto it. However when turned it on there was this weird display message on the LCD and it was basically frozen so I figured I would just pop the battery out and put it back in...no luck. After that the player did not turn on at all!! So thats when I refered to the manuals. Tried all the trouble shooting methods; firmware fix, firmware update. But the damm thing wont even go into recovery mode so that kinda puts that out of the question. And top it all of I'm Canadian which basically cuts me out of any kind of customer service or technical support, I through out the receipt so I can't ever return it...those basterds. So please help if me if anyone at all reads this it would be much kindly appreciated.
