Battling recruiting and retention shortfalls among its part-time soldiers, the Army is launching a new experimental policy approving the acceptance of not-so-young recruits into the ranks of the Army National Guard and Reserve.

Dubbed a three-year "test," the new policy will bump up the maximum age for new enlistments from 34 years to 39 years, according to an Army announcement.

Thoughts?

If your not in the army reserve by the time your 34, but you have been considering it, do you really think that you are going to join before your 40?

I think it's a good idea. People are staying fit and healthy well into their 30's these days.

Plus there's many jobs that don't require you to be combat personnel. So it really isn't so bad; shoot they were recalling much older (50-60 y.o.) pysch officers to help people deal with their issues...just an example.

This is just for new recruits. You can be an old geezer and still be in the army as long as you joined before you turned 39, now apparently.

its a bit high, but I mean, if u can pass the trainin n shti, knock yourself out. 15-49 is what is considered fit for military service.
