Basically, since christmas i have had a Philips HDD070 purchased from Comet in the UK. However, from day one I have had a range of inconveniences with it, from faulty earphones and incredibly easy to mark casing, to a major problem when i attempted to upgrade the firmware (as Philips constantly persuaded you to) resulting in my device being unresponsive for weeks, with terrible support from Philips themselves. Looking at these forums, I can see that I am not the only one who has many problems with this mp3 player and I am finally THAT unsatisfied with this that i am going to try to take it back. I have my receipt and it is currently under a one year guarantee, but I am not 100% sure if i am liable to take it back.. When apple offer their iPod mini for only £10 more than i paid for my HDD070, I will certainly be happy to return my current mp3 player and pay a little extra to get an iPod mini.
I'm just wondering whether people think that Comet will accept this and agree to me returning my mp3 player and 'swapping' it. Please tell me what you think.

I don't see how they could refuse you, especially as you're swapping it for another product they sell.

I've seen some problems with the Philips HDD060 too.

Getting anything on the Philips HDD070 using the bundled Digital Music Manager software is quite a task and I had hoped for a software update but I've have been sorely disappointed.

On the upside audio replay is first class even with the rather cheap supplied headphones, no background hiss of digital noise just the MP3 as encoded, there's enough bass and a clear top end with pin sharp vocals too.
