Hey guys...I have my friends xBox here, and when you put in a cd of any type, it doesn't read it. It's been having this problem for awhile, and I've finally had a chance to pick it up from him to take a look at it. Has anyone had this problem before, or have any suggestions?
Thanks!
CLEAN the heads....
Just as a CD player needs head cleaning, every 60-100 hours.

Ugh he hasn't cleaned his machine ever since he bought it. Do you think there is still hope?
I saw some cleaners out there, and I'm guessing I would have to go buy the dvd cleaners, correct?
they actually have dvd cleaners for the xbox. You can find them at Toys R Us in their xbox section. Probably in other stores as well.

Good call man, just found it on their website. Hopefully I can stop by the store within the next couple of days and check it out. I wanna work on this thing asap but these exams are getting in my way :P
I do not know HOW the machine is built....Sooooo!
does the LID pop up so you can see the MOUNTING area.
There should be a Lense inside.
Q-tip, or COTTON ONLY.
Dip in Alcohol, and squeeze almost DRY.
Wipe accross the head. Only 1 or 2 times.
IF you see anyother Lense's, inside, DO the same.

Thanks for the suggestion! Do you think that this DVD lense cleaner that dang suggested will work just as good as the method you are saying?
Unless there is something SPECIAL, about this unit.
A CD cleaner will work. Its generally the same design, just different Format is read.
I have had a FEW CD's that had to be cleaned MANUALLY, as they couldnt read the First track, to start the cleaning.
So many people Throw things away when they DONT work. Microwave, the fuse goes out, FIX it.
CD player, wont read, CLEAN it.
Tape player dont work, Demagnitize it.
Stove wont work, Look threw the wireing.

Does the Xbox play music CD's? Or maybe it just lets you rip em to the hard drive for playback? I have never tried playing music CD's with my Xbox.
