Hi guys, i have a sharp actius um32w laptop. it's about a year and a half old. I tried to turn it on today, and nothing shows up. Once i press the power button, the light for indicating that the laptop is on turns on, but nothing shows up on the screen, the light for hd access doesnt blink, i don't hear the fans turn on, and i don't hear the hard drive being accessed. Only thing that happens when i push the power button is that the power light turns green, but nothing else happens. any ideas what this could be?

the laptop only came w/ a 1 yr warranty and it's been 1.5 years now.. any chance sharp would still fix it? or would i have to pay? :(

thanks

sounds like the Voltage regulator inside has DUMPED on you...
the switch is only PART of a relay to send voltage to the other parts of the computer, it Flips on, and the relay Takes over and send different voltages to the needed locations..
Its just a small module.. Cost is relative. the part is CHEAP... OPENING the case and replacing it, then closing it backup, IS TIME... TIME COSTS.
TALK to sharp. see what they suggest..
there are FEW reasons for this part to FAIL.
Another section inside FAILED. a Burn out on a copper line.
A voltage spike threw the volage control section. TRANSFORMERS do NOT CONTROL SPIKES..
