Sony connect software question?

I am about to buy an mp3 player and am considering the sony nw e-507

but I am worried that I will not be able to use the mp3's cuurently on my computer with the mp3 player. Will they work? Or do I have to buy the albums from the connect site.

Also when I connect the nw e-507 will it come up as a usb device or do I have to use Sony software to detect it?

And it looks like the player will be compatible with both Sony's ATRAC format and regular MP3's. My guess is that you will be safe. You will probably have to have the Sony software installed to use the player. If you have an iPod you are use to this since you need iTunes installed in order to use Apple's MP3 players.
