my hdd does not have the capaicty it used to

hello i am just wondering why my philips hdd 070 does not have the capcity it used to , even though when it doesnt have any songs on it still says that there is 623 mb used! how do i solve this problem?

FORMAT it and start over...
Format in fat32 from windows..then run the DMM configuration..
