You dont need drivers according to Sony's website (http://www.sonydigital-link.com/dime/faq/faq.asp?l=en&m=downloads).

I am unable to find the i.Link driver for my Digital Camcorder
Sony does not provide an i.Link (IEEE 1394) MicroMV driver for their line up of Digital Camcorders as this driver is embedded into the Operating System. If the device is not recognised or causing issues, we suggest to go to the Microsoft knowledgebase, or verify one of the solutions below that might relate to your issue:

Why is there no USB driver available for Windows XP ?
In Windows XP you do not need to install a driver in order to be able to connect your Sony USB device to your computer. A generic driver that is already embedded into the Win XP Operating System is used for communication between the device and your computer. After connecting the USB device, Windows XP will detect it and install the proper driver automatically.

However, if you want to use the USB streaming function (whenever the device is supporting it) it is necessary to install a specific driver. You can install the USB streaming driver from the CD-Rom that came with your product, or you can download it from our download pages.

There should be no need to install drivers for USB or Firewire connections from a camcorder to a Windows XP PC. Are u sure you've got the connections set up correctly? For Firewire, you need a Firewire card.
