Seems pretty silly they would use 4 sticks of memory instead of 1 or two. Of course this would cause instability when overclocking a machine like this. It is sad because this system obviously has good potential.
I'm pretty sure you could request them to use 1 or 2 sticks instead of 4, since they are custom pcs.

Yeah but that typically costs more money. They should have had only one or two sticks, especially in a review unit.

They told me they were having problems finding 512MB ram modules that ran at PC1066 properly
The computer relies on RAID-0 array as boot drive, using WD drives no less. That's pushing your luck ain't it?
For that kind of money, I'd much rather have RAID-1 using a pair of 80GB WD drives as boot and a RAID-0 array as my storage.
I speak from personal experience. One of my older system uses a pair of IBM 75GXP 'Deathstars" in RAID-0 as boot. Well, I learned my lesson...

What is the difference between -1, -0 ?? Why do you thik you had the problem before.
To fix it would you have to reinstall the OS? I know on most Linux installs you can set that kinda of stuff for ethernet, such as eth-0, eth-1 and I figure that this is also apart of it.

i think it's pretty pathetic how they post advertisements as "reviews" these days...
this machine is heavily overpriced and obviously of poor quality and still received 8/10...

Dude, my $750 built-from-parts-newnegg.com gets almost 13000 3dmarks. ASUS A7N266, Athlon 2000, 1 stick crucial 256mb, sb16 pci, Leadtek Geforce4 ti4600, 60gb 7200rpm 8mb-cache western digitial. But no DVD or CD burner or DVD burner, and no silly Zip drive. But the thing smokes. Runs Doom3 alpha at about 35 fps, and runs Win98 like a greased pig.
And my 8 months older , but same price, athlon 1600, Ti4200, sb16, gets almost 11,000 3dmarks.
Get what you pay for, I guess. Must be nice to have $6000 to blow on one box.

How is it made of poor quality?
I also think its funny that you are not man enough to register and post a comment like that. It is VERY obvious that Wahoo spent a lot of time on this computer to make it very custom. Speed score are NOT everything. If that was the case, every one would buy a piece of crap system and throw a Radion 9700PRO into it.
I do agree that the system is overpriced in my opinion, but that's what you pay for, a custom built machine...
Besides, show me where you can find a case like that to buy on your own other than Wahoo Computers? They are pretty hard to find.
So you are basically saying Wahoo, Alienware, and Voodoo PC's are crap and overpriced? Yes, they are pricey, but you aren't just buying them for speed marks.
Why would you think that our review is an "advertisement" as well? Do you see wahoo advertise on our site? We get products to review, and we rate them as we see them. We are not influenced in any way. It would suck if we did, cause then we would not be providing any useful information to our readers.

The reason that the price point is so high is to target a specfic portion of the population who are looking for a high end completely custom computer. Instead of having to do all the hard themselves they would rather pay a company to deliever that item that you might build at home to their doorstep completely assembled and in working order. This is not for poor geeks who like to build their own systems. Believe it alot the majority of people don't know or haven't built a computer from parts alone.
We do not act as an advertisement for products that we review for the website. We are here to give a general overview of the system so that the people who might want to buy it can make an informed decision the next time they want to buy that computer or electronic device.
I would like to mention that we are aware of our rating system and plan on improving it.
Pretty nice case indeed... Tried some configurations on their site and came up with a 500 bucks only for the case and PSU... Very expensive, but what the hell, you only buy it once... Is the ATX format to be replaced in near future ? If it is, then buying such a case is crazy, but if it's not, then... It's like the monitor, you don't change it every year.

Good point about the case. I think this case is cool, but it looks way to big for my tastes. People also need to consider that the case has been modded etc, so I am sure that will add to the cases costs.

How does the price on this machine compare with the other high end custom jobs that are available. I wonder if Alienware is able to lower prices as a result of economies of scale. It seems like they are able to reach a larger market if they are able to sell their products in the brick and mortor chains.

I also want to point out another custom sho along the same lines as alienware: Falcon Northwest ( http://www.falcon-nw.com/ ). They also do a good custom job, although they don't modify their cases. Their systems are expensive, but pretty good. Look the point always goes back to: You get what you pay for...end of story
