This is my first post, but after trying all of the suggest remedies on the forum my player continues to show the '!' icon when powered up. It does have some good points in that it is detected by my PC as an additional drive 'G' with 0.98 GB used and 1.87 GB free. Philips GoGear recognises it and allows me to both restore and upgrade to firmware V4.41. MusicMatch V9 also recognises it under portable device manager and allows me to add tracks. I have tried reformatting it using FAT and FAT32 but this does not help. The continuing bad point is that after I disconnect it from the PC it freezes with the PC connection icon on the display. If I reset using the combined 'UP & +Volume' buttons it will then restart, but with the '!' system file / database error symbol. Is there anything else that I can try, it's very frustrating?

Please help....
I've just had one final attempt to fix this player by un-installing MusicMatch V9 & GoGear. I then cleaned my PC folders of all traces of Philips software, downloaded a fresh copy from the Philips site and re-installed it. I then reformatted my HDD070 using FAT32, no problems so far.
Restored and upgraded using GoGear. It's picked up as drive 'G' by the PC and I can now 'open as media device' after a right clicking on the player drive icon to view the "_system" folder and firmware "fwimage.ebn". They are all there!
MusicMatch detects it, once the Portable device manager downloads the driver and MP3 tracks can be added. Well it must work now I think to myself!
I click the 'safely remove hardware' button and un-plug the player. Whoops..frozen Pc connection icon on the display. Reset using the button combination and it restarts with my favourite '!' symbol.........
