For those of you who are not familiar with the DMR-E20, this is Panasonic's second generation DVD Recorder. The DMR is able to record on DVD-RAM and DVD-R discs which play in both DVD-RAM capable and DVD-R players. DVD-RAM has the ability to re-write on the DVD-RAM disc, thus eliminating the need for a VHS tape, and all in digital quality. Panasonic's first generation DVD recorder, the DMR-E20 sold last year for $3999.95. This years DMR-E20 sells for an incredible price of $1499.95, less than half the price of the first generation E10.
Features on the new DMR-E20 which I found interesting where the Time Slip Playback and Simultaneous Recording and Playback . Time Slip Playback lets you view a program that you're currently recording from any point that's already been recorded, while continuing to record the live program in progress. So, you no longer have to wait for the entire program to be recorded before watching it from beginning to end. With simultaneous recording and playback you can record a live TV program while watching any other program that's been previously recorded on the same disc!
