What do you guys think of the new forums? Do you like them better than the old?
i personally think VBulletin looks a little cluttered but you did a pretty good job spacing it all out.
nice job!

better then the last set of forums in my opinion, they were buggy for me and kept causing IE to crash for me
Never had that happen to me

Well, we will be cleaning up the interface and uncluttering things, and Its good that things are working better than before. I never had the problem w/ IE. SpongeBob, which version were you using? I really like the feature set that vbulletin brings compared to the last forum software choice.

Just to let you guys know, Howard was able to import the user list from the main site so people will not have to re-register here in the forums a 2nd time now.

wow, that's a useless comment. If you don't like the forums, at least be polite enough to tell us why? If you only come to the site for the forums, we'd like to know that too. ==General Note to Everybody== If there's something you don't like about the site, please make a comment about it somewhere. How do things get better if never told what's wrong?

Reason, you are still registered as a member, you just need to login. We were able to move all the registered names and your information over from the old forums. If you look in the upper left hand corner it says we have 839 some odd registered users. We did not get all new users over night :) we did import the old information for you.

Here is the story with the forums. The old forums were produced by a company/group that is no longer writing the particular forum software we were using. So we had a dilemna, either our coding guys could spend all day updating and adding new features to the old forums or we could simply install new forums where a company actually was supporting them.
The old forums were integrated into the old sites database as well, meaning that if you registered on the main site you could post comments in both the forums and on the articles. Great idea right? Well figure we have 6-7 people running the sites and we get over 5-6K visitors per day. It would take all day to moderate all the comments on the whole site in and out of the forums. People trying to use HTML code to ruin the site, swearing etc...
We are working on a new site where comments are not allowed on the articles but in which the articles will point to the forums were things can be controlled.
I am sincerely sorry for losing the posts and data, it was a tough decision we had to make. We tried importing all the data but were only able to grab the user information and not the posts. We feel that in the long run this will be the way to go and we do not plan to change the forums for a long time.
We would love for all the old members to support us and our decision, but if you cannot then we understand completely. On another note, I did get some Intel shirts and stuff from some other companies. I plan on e-mailing those who have stuck with us to get your home information so I can mail you some goodies just to say thanks for your patronage.

It means you are not logged in. You can login at the bottom right hand corner of the main forums screen.

Now they kick ass . A whole lot of sections that we are able to post threads in. Gives the users more opportunity to decide where things go and what type of threads we expect from them.
