How many times has this happened to you? You are on a business trip or vacation, you have been away from the hotel all day and your cell phone dies. Maybe you forgot your charger at home, or you forgot your car adapter and you are on a long road trip. So what do you do in a scenerio like this? You pull out the handle and wind the battery power back up! From the people who brought you wind-up powered emergency flashlights and radios, comes the FreeCharge. This one is for your cell phone!
The FreeCharge is a compact external phone battery with a crank. Wind the crank for 45 seconds, and you've charged your battery enough for ~5 minutes of talk time, or a few hours of standby time.
If you don't feel like winding, plug it into the nearest electrical outlet and charge its internal battery, for charging the phone's battery later. This energy is stored in the FreeCharge's internal battery, which is approximately equivalent to the phone's battery in power and performance.
Now, assuming you're within your coverage area, you'll never be without your cell phone because of dead batteries.
You can make and receive calls when your phone is connected to the FreeCharge. When your phone is charged, just disconnect it.
The FreeCharge is built to fit into the palm of your hand and to be large enough to comfortably energize the unit through a robust winding handle.
Currently only availible for Motorola phones, models for Nokia, Ericsson, and other popular brands will be availible in July.
