Gotta get rid of SearchMiracle---HELP!!!

Hi, I really need other people's help on this. I got this thing on my computer called "searchmiracle" and it's driving me insane. I used ad-aware, elite toolbar remover, hijackthis, spybot, etc to get rid of it. So far it's gone, but according to this other post that I saw on here, I still got some type of bad viruses left. Is there anything here that I need to delete from my system in order to stop all of the popups? The search miracle thing disappeared, but I still have popups from some page called Aurora and others. Please help me! Also, what is a DSO Exploit? I found it in my computer and tried to get rid of it, but it keeps coming back.

looks like you have the nail.exe program that gets associated with Aurora. If you go to my post about getting rid of Aurora you might want to follow the link I just posted to another board that had a solution for getting rid of this problem :)

Ok, I deleted the nail.exe thing. Problem is, the aurora things keep on popping up. I used the aurora solution posted and it didn't remove anything for me. Anyways I have a huge problem now. My local C drive is now blue (the color of the letters) while all of my other programs are in black. Is my computer dying??? HELP!!

Download Microsoft AntiSpyware ,Spybot, AdAware, (Links Above)


Reboot To Safe Mode (tap F8 on Startup)

Open up Hijack This and Place a check next to each of these and click Fix Checked.

Still In Safe Mode Delete all Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, Run Microsoft AntiSpyware, AdAware and Spybot,delete what they find , Empty recycle bin.

Then Reboot to normal mode and post a new log..........Jim

Nail.exe is still there! I have a question. I used spybot and it found something called "Alexa,and DSO Exploit." What are they?? I tried to delete them, but they came back.

Alexa may be related to this stubborn Nail exe. DSO exploits are nothing, just ignore them.

Lets try something different to get rid of this Nail.exe. This works in some cases.

We will be using HijackThis in a different way now. You may want to print this out.

1. Reboot to Safe Mode
2. Open Up Hijack This
3. Click the Do A System Scan Only Button
4. Click the Config button on the bottom right corner
5. Click Misc Tools on the top right

6.Click Delete File on Reboot button and a box should open up.
Find the file nail.exe then click the open button. A window will ask you if you want to reboot now click yes

(the file should be in the C:Windows folder.)

7. Reboot to normal mode and post a new log........Jim

How is it running since we fixed the Spyware? Is it still the same? I dont think you need to reformat just because of the different colors?

Things are good so far, but the problem is that the computer takes forever to shut down. Is this supposed to happen? Things are just really going slow. Some of my computer programs got messed up also like my program for CD burning, my windows media player, and when I go to system tools, most of them don't work. Is there any way to fix that?

Also, do you know how to delete Aurora.exe? It's still on my computer and keeps on popping up as well as other popups that came from aurora. I used the program that a user said would work, but it didn't.

Post a new log, Your problems were probably caused by a virus. Do you have any Antivirus Programs. It probably would be a good idea to scan with a Antivirus program.

AVG Antivirus is a good Free program. Download it here.

Yes, I do have an AntiVirus program. It's norton antivirus and internet security. I took your advice and downloaded the other program. So far, no viruses and no more of the annoying popups. Now that all of these problems are gone, what should I do in order to prevent them from happening again? I also wanted to ask something about downloading music. Why does music downloading cause viruses and give annoying popups, and if I do start to download music again, is there a free program that has virus scan so I can be safe when downloading music?

Your log looks good, The best way to keep your system clean is to run your anti Virus programs and AntiSpyware programs AT LEAST once a week. SpywareBlaster should run in the background at all times.

Downloading music shouldnt cause viruses. Its the programs like Kazaa that are bundled with Spyware. There are some music downloading programs without Spyware. WinMX is one I can think of offhand.

Also you can catch a virus or worm from a file you downloaded from someone who is sharing a file containing a virus or worm. I never got a virus from a MP3 but some of the video files may have a virus. It happened to me once. So be careful what you download.

On deleting files, If you delete them using Add/Remove Programs the entire program should be gone in most cases. If you delete just a file you may be just deleting a shortcut..........Jim

I also wanted to know if there's anyway I can remove a program after deleting files. This is what happened. My brother downloaded a game. I deleted all of the files for the game because he didn't want to play it anymore. The problem is, now it's still in the Add/Remove programs. I tried to delete it but it doesn't work. So you deleted the files first? Then went to Add Remove Programs?.You may have deleted the uninstall portion of the game with the rest. So when you tried to remove it from Add Remove programs it couldnt find the Uninstall.

Hey, I got problems with spyware again. I downloaded iMesh, this music download program, and it messed up my computer again. It gave me some tracking devices and bad toolbars. Reboot To Safe Mode (tap F8 on Startup)

Open up Hijack This and Place a check next to each of these and click Fix Checked.

By the way, I have noticed a problem that happened on my computer. All of my programs work, but when I try to open NortonAntiVirus or Search on my computer from certain paths, it doesn't open. Why? This happened last time too and when you helped me, everything worked again. Do I have to configurate something in order to make it work again?

Your log looks good, Dont know why you would be having trouble with Norton. Its possible that the Spyware you had a few weeks ago messed up some files on it. Perhaps Uninstall and Reinstall it?.........Jim :cool:
