So, what do you mostly listen to? Your favorite bands? And i'm really interested to know, do you listen to non-american bands, and even more, do you sometimes listen to music with non-english lyrics?

Replied at TecknoGeek's thread about what I'm listening to most recently.

As for non-American (and UK) bands, I do listen to a few. Mostly Brazilian stuff because I speak Portuguese. I also have some Russian music which I don't understand at all.

I like Techno a lot, but today I bought the new Seether, AudioSlave and Mudvayne which are all hard rock albums. So far I like them all, and they are worth picking up.

Oh... and by the way, IMHO this is the only worthwhile thing Greenskeepers have done... the rest of their stuff seems to be electronica, trance, house mix type stuff. I never can keep those genres straight in my head.

I mostly like punk and rock, and i mostly listen to american, brittish and croatian bands, in other words the ones i can understand. Sometimes i listen to some german bands.
Some of my best bands are Rancid, NoFX, Pennywsie, SOAD, Godsmack, Pasi( a very good croatian punk-rock band), Six pack, Rammstain and many others.

Hey Vex, get the new Seether - Karma and Effect. Also the new Audio Slave and Mudvayne albums are pretty good.

I listened to a few songs by Seether, it sounds preety good, altough lyrics are kind of corny, but all in all a good band! When i got to the music shop and asked for "Seether" the salesman looked at me as I'm crazy. It's obviously not a very popular band in Croatia...
I will download those albums (RIAA can s**k my d**k :d ) next month, i used all my DSL bandwith for this month, so I'll tell you how I liked them! :thumb

Ioman

Wow you guys have a limit on your DSL usage? Thats pretty ghetto!

Seether is kind of an up and coming band here in the States, they definately are gaining in popularity.

Well our internet is really in the gutter, only last year in this month we got DSL connection to ordinary people, before it was a privilege only big companies could afford. And it still isn't available in the whole country. And it's still very expensive so i can't afford to have flat rate every month, but next month i do! I mean, it's not like i have a limit that i can't pass, but i would have to pay for extra packages of 512 mb, and i don't want to do that, it isn't neccesary. This month i used my 5 GB preety quickly...
I will listen to those bands, from what i heard it's very good!

i love good industrial, goa, dark dnb, techstep, punk (classic _real_ punk), rock, metal (not nu-metal) and classical.

right now i'm completely enjoying the new whitestripes album (get behind me satan); i cannot wait to get a cd the day it's released. they're one of the newer bands that i love, the raw sound is amazing on tube gear :D

this album is lighter, lots of genre hopping as usual.

favorite band overall is tool, with a close second by nirvana. the clash and joe strummer & the mescaleros as 3rd.

I was brought up on punk and rap, however I'd say i'm pretty eclectic. I just dont like country that much except for Johnny Cash.

Examples of bands/artists I like:
Jay-z
Brother Ali
AFI
Against All Authority
Bollweevils
Frenzal Rhomb
Guttermouth
Hot Snakes (they kick ass)
and many many more.

You can listen to the punk station at Neptune Radio (http://www.neptuneradio.com) to hear the punk I like.

One of the bands VeX mentioned seems pretty cool... Croatian punk band called Pasi. Musically VERY tight. Check out mp3 samples here:
http://www.bend98.com/2/mp3.htm

The Sound of Urchin (a NYC band) came through Fort Worth a couple of weeks ago and was a great show. The drummer is in love with coke and sings about it... go figure. Very loud.
http://www.soundofurchin.com/

Another NYC band I saw that kicked ass was the Turbo A/C's. Punk + surf rock.

Seen 'em quite a few times here in the DFW area... mostly when they were playing with the Flametrick Subs.

The Subs don't get out of Texas much but they used to put on one hell of a show. Along with cheerleaders...

The Necro Tonz put on a good mellow show in the same vein. http://www.necrotonz.com/
The theme of their shows is:
1. Songs about dead people.
2. Songs by people who are dead.
3. Songs by people whose careers are dead.

... entertaining.

I'll quote the message i've sent to spankers by PM...

I'm very glad you like them!
They are very popular in my city, they often play in most popular rock clubs in Croatia, sometimes their own songs, sometimes songs from bands like Pennywise, Nofx etc. THey are very good!
Unfortunately, I don't think you can get them in USA, even here is quite hard to get their album, because they are not really "popular" in a comercial sense, they are more like underground, and appeal to only rock and punk subculture.
I don't know if you found any lirycs translation, but they are indeed punk, anarhistic, they spit on government, religion, war and try to "promote" common sense!!
I listened to all their stuff, and have new album and some live tracks.

LOL Spankers!
I know this thread is kinda old, but I was just reading over a bunch of threads tonight so thought I'd add my 25 cents. These days I listen to a lot of jazz and classic rock (as old folks like myself tend to do), but it all depends on mood. If I'm feeling punk I'll listen to Clash, X, Ramones, Bad Brains or Iggy--definitely old school. There are a few newer punk bands that I like, like Rancid. I'm a big fan of almost everything that came out of the Seattle grunge scene--Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, and oh yeah--that band started by a guy named Kurt Cobain.

When I do listen to hip hop these days, it's always old stuff, or things by people like Arrested Development or Lauren Hill. Erykah Badu is awesome, too. But the gangsta thing does nothing for me.

I am completely in love with Joss Stone's music right now. Who knew that voice could come out of an 18 yr-old white girl??

Heum, yeah, I see... I'm one of those kind of metal heads round here I think. I listen though to anything, from Xzibit to heum, let's see... Dimmu Borgir! Yeah, I like those kind of black, death metal bands. Cradle of filth is my favoriteright now... Though, when I get my hand on one of the CDs of Metallica, No one can stop me from listening to it ! I know every lyrics of every of their albums! Metallica rocks! The offspring's kinda cool too, old albums are bests! Always, whatever the music, or group it is. It's a personnal opinion though...

Actually the band is called "Debeli Precjednik", that's a translation of Fat president, but you're not gonna find any of their songs on the internet with the name Fat president... And one more good croatian punk band is Kud Idijoti, older and more popular than those two...

Ej misfit, od kud si? Dal si iz Rijeke, ja jesam, pa sam recimo najviše privržen Pasima, jer su iz mog grada i tako... I nije neki problem nabavit njihove CD-e, možeš ih naručit s njihovog sitea! Ajd pozdrav!

Hey ModestMouse, I'm also from the NW and since I heard the first chord of Pearl Jam's Alive, I've been a fan ever since. I've gone to 2 shows and each time got my money's worth. I never really bought into Nirvana, but appreciate their early stuff. I guess I'm an old school alternative music fan. Nowadays, anything with a good beat, clever lyrics, and usually NW underground, I'm into. Do you have any connection to the group Modest Mouse? I met one of the guys a year ago and he drew a birdhouse on a piece of paper for a friend of mine. The whole band was really cool.

i wish..........Theres a lot of great bands that come down to Portland every week. If you look in the right places you will find the members.(The Bar inside the Crystal Ballroom is loaded with members from opening acts) (The Hallway on the side at the Roseland sometimes has members hanging out). You really just have to get lucky

I usually just have my touch playing random.

I unpacked my CDs at home a couple weeks ago and came across some CDs I haven't listened to in a loooong time.
