My brother has a Sprint phone that's beginning to suck. Now replacement phones tend to shaft you in terms of price you have to pay.
Since you're not activating a new account, they make you pay retail price. The only way I can think that you can get it cheaper is by buying from eBay. Does anybody have any other ways though?

How long has your bro been with sprint? Sometimes phone carriers will give a discount for being with them a while, like in my case 2 years or more.

What is the warranty you have on your phone? If it is within a year of purchase, they should give you a replacement for free. You might want to check and see how much an inurance plan is too if you are particularily rough on your phones. It could be worth it in the long run.

Have you considered buying a used phone?
If you have a replacement warrenty....
LOOSe the phone...
BREAK the phone.....
DROP the phone off a LARGE building...
WASH the phone......
Then you get FREE phone...

You could do what my math book suggests on p120, drop it of the World Trade Center Towers and see how long it takes for it to hit the ground.
I feel like persuing a frivolous lawsuit! I think i was offended by that statement.

Then you get FREE phone... If you do file a claim with lock/line (Sprint's insurance carrier) you will pay a US$35 deductible. FYI.

I have purchased and activated several phones from eBay with good results. Just make sure you get the right model and you might want to call Sprint to see if they will activate it (and if they will charge you) before you buy it.

Have you ever had any cell phoones purchaed from eBay that did not work? I would be hesitant to purchase something that requires a service over eBay, but then again I do not have a lot of experience with eBay.

No, I have never purchased one that did not work. I have purchased the wrong ones for my purpose, but was always able to re-selll them on eBay without losing any money.
