Lets see.
I bought Return to Wolfenstein to Hold me over for the RELEASE of MOO3.
Now, its a year old, and I understand there will be updates. Im at 56k, so they DO take awhile.
3 LARGE updates. From version 1.0 to 1.41.
The First 2 deal with game play, and the LAST deals with the Network problems they have had.
Not to bad.
NOW the fun part. Extra MODS, and maps. There is NO central location for EITHER.
Most of the servers are for NEW maps, Passworded, and LOW PING only. AND there Multiplayer interface, dont tell you WHICH is which until you try to load into a game.

Another NOW. Its designed around the Quake3 engine. And 56k has always NOT liked this. For 56k users, its ok, but Faster is MUCH better. Im trying to ascertain WHY they didnt use the TRIBES 2 engine, and network interface. It runs VERY smooth, even for 56k, and LARGE MAPS.

Im thinking this game WILL need a couple More updates before its decent. Mostly in the Multiplayer area. Single player is pretty good.
Any body Play Quake3...I think the cheats are the same. +sv_cheats 1......

EDIT...............
OK, I Found the maps...

I would skip most FPS if you are on dial up. I guess that is a bit too late now that you have bought the game. Play single player and wait until you have a better connection before bothering to play online.

Its not that.
I have had GOOD games that were multiplayer, and PLAYED very well under 56k. Interstate 82, I played for 3 years, TRIBES 2 is still good.

It USED to be, that software companies, SHARED there knowledge, to make better games. One would have a good LAN system, and another a Good game, put them together and you had a GREAT game.
NOW days, they ALL do there OWN thing and DONT share what they know about Graphics, Net bandwidth, sound, ANYTHING. They just BUMP around until they find what WORKS, and stay there. YOU would THINK that sence Q3 is networked already, that Wolfenstein wouldnt have ANY problems. BUt they did. WHY, didnt ACTivision SHARE that information??

I forget how Interstate 82 or 79 or whatever works. I think it is far cry from Quake 3 or URT2k3. These are the games where connection and refelexes matter. You need to know the maps and where the best items are also. Having a good system is a plus but the most important is connection. You can get by fine playing tribes, but that is only because it is more about the team, capture the flag than it is about who has the most kills. You can get by playing an engineer, building turrets and getting kills through defensive means.

I installed return to castle wolfenstien and have played a couple of levles, it looks to be pretty good game. I can't wait to get a different gun instead of the MP whatever.

on your Shortcut, insert this at the END

Space+sv_cheats 1

Hit the ~ ingame..
/give all

do you want more..??

ONE level at the beginning, you NEED to pick up a weapon to finish the map. YOU CANT have THIS weapon IF you want to PICK it up.

So I realize this isn't exactly what you were talking about, but if you like WWII era MP games and are not incredibly hung up on realism I'd suggest Battlefield 1942. The single player is not the strongest you'll ever see, but the online multiplayer is outstanding. I'm not really sure how it will play on a 56k, but I rarely see people lagging out on fast servers. I love the game, even though there is support for about 64 people on a server sme maps get a bit crowded and vehicles are in short supply but its a blast when you are on a good "team" and not just a bunch of morons blowing each other up.

On another note, I loved Interstate '82 and '76:thumb

Once you get the cheats working...
TRY this one.......
/god

I will check out 1942, I have heard alot of good about it. HAD panzer elite, but the updates were WEIRD. And I aint into programming any more.

My concern is that ALOT of games are forgeting those with 56k. I mean, 60% of the US dont have high speed yet. And even after all the towns and cities get High speed, there will STILL be 20% that wont get it, unless they can use Wireless.
I'd love wireless, but the setup is $500. And it has weather problems.

1) I agree, they played it for like a month on TechTv. Looks pretty wicked, but I think you are still going to be limited if you try and play online. Although it is not pure FPS you will still die from laggin if you can't keep up.

2) Ya its going to be awesome!

Lots and lots of good stuff already out that I am going to have to get eventually.

What I can't understand is how you can sit there and not play it. '42 is so damn fun..especially when you can talk to teammates and plan things out, etc.
