Things Republicans Believe (received anonymously on the net)

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime,
unless you're a
conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and
you need our prayers for
your recovery.

The United States should get out of the United
Nations, and our highest
national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions
against Iraq.

Government should relax regulation of Big Business
and Big Money but crack
down on individuals who use marijuana to relieve the
pain of illness.

"Standing Tall for America" means firing your
workers and moving their jobs
to India.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her
own body, but
multi-national corporations can make decisions
affecting all mankind without
regulation.

Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of
homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise
the troops in speeches
while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

Group sex and drug use are degenerate sins unless
you someday run for
governor of California as a Republican.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents
won't have sex.

A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our
long-time allies, then
demand their cooperation and money.

HMOs and insurance companies have the interest of
the public at heart.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy.
Providing health care
to all Americans is socialism.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk
science, but
creationism should be taught in schools.

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad
guy when Bush's daddy
made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business
with him and a bad guy
when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden"
diversion.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is an
impeachable offense. A
president lying to enlist support for a war in which
thousands die is solid
defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named
in the Constitution,
which include banning gay marriages and censoring
the Internet.

The public has a right to know about Hillary's
cattle trades, but George
Bush's driving record is none of our business.

You support states' rights, which means Attorney
General John Ashcroft can
tell states what local voter initiatives they have a
right to adopt.

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital
national interest, but what
Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is
communist, but trade with
China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of
international harmony.

I LOVE IT!! As a Democrat whose car boasts a number of anti-Bush bumper stickers, I wish I had enough room to post some of these! I get feedback from passersby (mainly positive), especially for my "No one died when Clinton lied" sticker--imagine what kind of commentary one of these babies would provoke, hehe. :thumb

If this story gets big its bad news for Bush

Precious

Since I live near the cestpool of all things politics...I've heard lots about this memo. Very interesting...

I wonder how the media/Dems will respond to this. But, they may be too busy dealing with all the confirmation of Bolton. But with the talk about how the CIA says they now know where Bin Laden is...it may become more of a hot topic again.

I really dont think Bush wants to catch Bin Ladin. It would pressure him to end the war.

If they are truly after him they would have caught him by now.

They may be using this topic to cover up the Downing Street Memos in the press..If the public doesnt find out about it the story will fade away.

Time will Tell.........Jim

republicans have ****ed up this country way more than dem's. they will be the reason that america looses is superiority. if we tie christianity too closely with politics and seemly exlcude other religions we will cause a great threat to our nation.

Precious
07-07-2005, 07:55 AM
I think the whole religion/politics thing is difficult to sperate completely since much of our country was founded on chrisitan principles. I do agree that tying them too closely is not good because it alienates others of different faiths.

My biggest concern is when religion starts to infringe on my ability to make my own moral decisions - like abortion, gay marriage, etc. I don't think conservatives should have the right to dictate how everyone should live by limiting these choices. We are suppose to be a "free" society...that means letting people make their own decisions and leave the judgement up to God. Okay, enough ranting.

I must say I'm a registered Republican (that's right), but didn't vote for Bush. And I'm not happy with the Dems lately either. I plan to switch to Independent before the next election since I don't like either party lately. Both are messed up.

VeX
07-07-2005, 08:02 AM
That's right, politics is a *****, and whichever party you think is better, it actually isn't, it isn't perfect, every view has it's flaws. So neither party or political view will work for everybody.
Btw, technogeek, i'm sorry that i reacted that way, i just lost my nerves...

Laws are for the group, not moralsl, and should NEVER be biased. Religion is for the individual, and the morality they wish to lead. I agree. The problem that I see is that neither party is really conservative... in finance, lawmaking, or interpretation of the Constitution.

Precious
07-08-2005, 05:49 AM
Now don't you wish all the lobbyists and conservatives understood this...that's what makes me so frustrated with some political groups. They think there was is the only way. It's one of the reasons why I left my hometown...a bunch of really conservative people who try to push their agendas into laws.

ECA
07-08-2005, 10:41 AM
the positions of lawmakers, president, and rep/congreeman...used to be HONORARY, and the only money you got was a Stipend to pay for travel and living expences, then you went back to WORK in your own home state. We also used to place our more intelligent/worthy in these jobs. Not the one with the biggest mouth and most money.

When all the laws are made, what do Lawmakers DO?? Ours are screwing up whats was done, and not fixing/correcting what was bad before.
For each elected official we have over 100+ that are paid employees.
I would LOVE each state to run its own presidential campane. Then a regional to bring it down to 5, and from there we would ALL vote for 1 of them. Then if others/groups wish to try, and bring there OWN choice onboard, let them but they have to have the backing of at least 1mil people.

Now the fun part..It used to be that the PEOPLE contacted and wrote to there rep/congreeman, and talked/told them what was needed.. The only ones that do this NOW is the big businesses.

The Dems need to take back the Senate in the upcoming elections, If they do Bush will be toast. :thumb

Looks like after the latest terrorist attacks in London we will most likely lose more of our freedoms. Makes me wonder who is really behind these attacks.

Bush wants this war. The longer it goes on the better it is for him and his right wing agenda.

LOL...so true.

It's sad because any really good candidates don't run for office because they don't want to deal with all the crap involved with politics. So we are left with all these people that none of use like and we have to choose the lesser of two evils.

Once upon a time i considered myself a Republican, unfortuantely I was not around when the party was fighting for civil rights and staying true to what they believed.

Nowadays, I consider myself niether a Republican nor a Democrat as I dont see either party providing real solutions or working for comprimise in the best interests of the country. I will just consider myself an American and hope that someday I will vote for a president that I can really believe in.

I saw someone say that the Dems need to take back the house in the next election. I agree with them but not for the same reason. Until we have representatives in Washington that are willing to work in our interest instead of the party line, then I am most comfortable when the Presidency and the Congress/Senate are not in one party's hands. I feel that if the Dems had control of all three we would have just as many problems.

Precious

Hah! Hah! I agree with you...I guess we should blame all those red states for getting it wrong.

I would love to see:
By the people, for the people.. Be a flag raised for us.
At this pont its just a bunch of bickering children. Rich children. And where that money comes from is hidden from us.. Yes, we know where much of it comes, and it poisons what this nations WAS, and could be.

ECA
07-12-2005, 11:44 AM
As for the red states...
The funny thing is that the Electorial congress, in all but 2-3 states votes all or none.
If a candidate gets 51%, the electorial for those states votes ALL for that candidate.
The other 2-3 split there vote. As a reflection to how the vote went.

If you split the vote in the electoriate for EACH state, he didnt win either election.

Precious
07-13-2005, 10:20 AM
I don't really blame anyone for the election results...it happened, I didn't agree with the results. But I don't like the electorial college specifically for the reasons you gave...it had its purpose when the founding fathers wrote the constitution, but doesn't serve a purpose in today's world other than to mess up the election results. It should be based just on overall votes, but I'm sure it will be around for years to come for political reason.

ECA
07-13-2005, 12:02 PM
I want someone that can think for THEMSELVES.
Make judgements on proper information, and can SEE when something isnt enough/right to make an opinion on.
Forget about THIS/That side...Its for the people...not business.

Love to see ALL taxes brought to the people every 20 years to see if they ARE worth doing/keeping, or if they are inadiquet, past there use/need.

Also would like the same for EVERY law/and there relations, passed.

nightowl
07-13-2005, 08:17 PM
FlyingDutchman, Yea I agree, When the democrats or the republicans control everything its bad news. Its better to have a split.

ECA is right also, They need to think for themselves, not just do what the party says is right.

Some of these republicans are complete morons. If Bush told them to go jump in a lake they all would.

for all the money thats been goven to corps, and the promises made...

Automation will make things cheaper??? It only makes MORe profits.

Aluminum will make cars lighter, and more fuel efficent?? I got a 86 Olds that gets 35 mpg...And its STEAL..Think by now we would have 100mpg cars considering how small and light they are.

Shipping jobs over seas will lower the prices??? NOPE only raise profits AGAIN.

Helping other economies will help the US?? 1 word..NAFTA...

Nafta will help the US?? NOPE, only MORe profits..

Lets see..
Us cars are made in parts.
Those parts are made around the world. Singapore, vietnam, Korea, Mexico, indonesia... then SENT here after they were made for 1/100th the cost and put together. then they charge us the SAME price it would COST in the US...MORE profit.

Wal mart will make more jobs??? but how many LOST from the other 20+ small companies that cant compete, or US jobs, because all there products are imported.
