I'm not a heavy console user and I don't own any consoles myself but I love PC games, especially RPGs, most specifically those along the Baldur's Gate vein of role playing(expansive world, story-oriented, heavy, epic gameplay).
With Neverwinter Nights 2, Baldur's Gate 3 and Dragon Age all undergoing some kind of production(pre or post), it's satisfying to imagine what the RPG landscape is going to look like next year, when all three of these titles release.
What's truly interesting, however, is both Neverwinter Nights 2 and Dragon Age will come equipped with some kind of toolset. I think this definitely adds longevity to the game and allows for the establishment of PW gaming. Hopefully, we'll see NWN2 and DA take it even further, than NWN did.
Although I'm pretty put off with FF and console RPGs in general(no, I'm NOT enthused by the idea of pretending to be a teenage go-go dancer...shocker! ;)) and I'm not terribly fond of Elderscrolls(I thought the story was dry), any of you guys want to chime in RPGs that you see looming over the horizon that may set trends or sales records?
Hands down, the two FPSes that I'm looking forward to most are Condemned by Monolith(search for it on GameSpy) and Quake 4. Of course there's also Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, which looks amazing. I honestly think that Quake 4 will see iDs resurgence into the forefront of not just graphics technologies but also of gameplay. If all the articles I've seen(and footage) are any indication, both Raven and iD are spending *all* of their time making sure that this game hits the mark that many individuals thought Doom3 missed.
Which reminds me. I need to get that GeForce 6600 GT replacement soon, so that I can finally bust open that copy of Doom 3 and finish it. :)
Finally, I've noticed that HoMM V is finally on track to ship next year and judging from the graphics and design...the game looks tight.
Lots to look forward to at the end of this year and next year...
What about you guys?
