Better movies, lower prices and better sound. I still go the movies, but at $9 dollars a pop, its getting pretty ridiculous. We have a new theater where I live thats supposed to be state of the art, but the sound in some of the theaters sucks, it doesnt sound like surround sound and its not loud enough.

STILL "Gone with the wind"

'Gone With The Wind' has been adjudged the most-seen movie of the 20th century, according to research.

Since its release in 1940, the romantic drama set in the American Civil War has attracted 35 million through the box office.

The research, by the British Film Institute, makes for grim viewing for the producers of modern Hollywood blockbusters.

Only two - 'Star Wars' (1978), in fourth place with 20.76 million admissions
and 'Titanic' (1998) in eighth place with 18.9 million - make the top ten.

The advent of television and decline of cinema is also reflected in the list
with only four of the top ten having been made after 1950.

The Top Ten are:

1. Gone With The Wind (1940) 35 million
2. The Sound Of Music (1965) 30 mn
3. Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs (1938) 28 mn
4. Star Wars (1978) 20.76 mn
5. Spring In Park Lane (1948) 20.5 mn
6. The Best Years Of Our Lives (1947) 20.4 mn
7. The Jungle Book (1968) 19.8 mn
8. Titanic (1998) 18.9 mn
9. The Wicked Lady (1946) 18.4 mn
10. The Seventh Veil (1945) 17.9 mn

this is rated by the NUMBEr of people to SEE the movie.. NOt how much it EARNED..
Consider thats at 35-40 CENTS each....

I say better movies would make me pay to go see them. Lately, the movie choices have not been that great, and I am kind of disappointed. And I definately don't think they are worth the price of the ticket.

I went and saw Episode 3 for Star Wars at the theater because I knew it would be better on a bigger screen/better sound, but that is the first movie I have PAID to see in a long time. I will probably go see Batman in the theater, but I don't plan to see much else.

For the price of taking Kids to the theater, I could pay a baby sitter and have a great nite out with there mother..Drinks and all..

If they want MORE people to GO, they should drop there prices and QUIT pointing fingers as to WHY they aint making money. At $7 is was high, but bareable. And you would get 2-3 times as many people. At $5, you couldnt keep them AWAY, and would PROBABLY get 10 times, with LOTS of repeats.
But they dont see that.
ALSO, do movies REALLY stay at a theater very long anymore?? 1-2 weeks and its GONE.
And agreed, PLOT lines are getting rather THIN...And most movies are FLASH FLASH FLASH, from one point to the next, and its OVER... Im to the point of renting OLDER movies and reading BOOKS....

What are books? Sounds interesting... & your poll left out a few choices, getting laid & none of the above...

None of the above is a NO vote for all.
Take "girl friend"(boy friend, goat, Milf) are all about the same reasoning...
