back again still with this problem

computer runs fine (files open and program work)

I cannot access the internet and my connection always looks busy doing something

I ran S&D - clean
ad-aware - clean
norton - picks up Adware.Istbar (source istactivex.dll) within c:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\local settings\temp int files\IE5\U9K5CNSJ\006_regular[1].cab

Norton cannot remove, I went to the Symantec webside downloaded the fix ran it in safe mode and it didnt find it. It was still there when I did another scan.

I installed updated and ran AVG
It found
Trojan horse IRC/Backdoor.SdBot.189AU
C\Windows\system32\winfiles.exe

it deleted the file and when I ran again it was gone

here is my log

Delete this file

C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSDcom.exe

Still In Safe Mode Open up Hijack This and Place a check next to each of these and click Fix Checked.

yep, same computer

seem to have got rid of the other nasties but still cannot access the internet and the icon at the bottom showing my connection, both screens are constantly blue showing movement of data in and out. When I open up internet explorer it wont go to any pages and instead of showing "opening www what ever" at the bottom, it lists 207.24.05

I ran Hijack in safe mode and deleted everything you suggested, ran all other programs (they all came back clean) and then emptied all other files. Started up and re connected. No blue lights this time which is good ( I assume this is no movement of data).

still cannot access the web though. Here is my latest log.

did what you said

only problem was that the sygate item didnt show up on hijack in safe mode. Ran AVG and all clear.

restarted and checked IE, still no go

opened hijack sygate was there, removed, shutdown and restarted.

stil not working for IE

could it be something to do with zone alarm or microsoft beta antispy. Maybe I have blocked something from working.... tried typing in a web site but this doesnt work either

Have you tried to reinstall Internet Explorer?

Maybe the bug messed up a few files.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx

make sure you install ythe correct version(second link)..........Jim

Jim

it appears my IE must be damaged, I went to the websites you mentioned and downloaded a repair, ran it but it didnt change anything.

I then downloaded and installed Mozilla, and am now back on the net.

when I went to Microsoft it states you cant download the IE as a whole. Is there any other way of fixing this, I would prefer to stick with IE
