got this as a gift from someone..
initially, the 'bad database' icon appears ( the '!' and the blank page)
so i follow the instructions here , the philips site and the documentation ( using device manager 2005/02/03, with firmware 4.41d, and also an earlier version that came with the item)
initially, i was not able to 'restore' the hdd, getting a lot of msgs aying that the device was being accessed by other applications ( eventually took off my firewall and antivirus.. which did the trick)
when connected via usb, it displays an icon with the hdd connected to a pc ( no message)
when i click on restore, it attempts to format ( it says unknown capacity sometimes, but sometimes it says 1.87 Gb), and does not complete.
running win2000, with USB 1.1, and all the hotfixes available for win2k
tried searching through the forum for a prob exactly like mine, but no luck.
can anyone help?
if i need to return the item , will it matter that i do not have the receipt? ( as i said it was a gift.. it was bought in the US, but shipped to another country)
