Hi people,
One of the next things I want to add to Herbert is file management, i.e. the ability to move the music files around on the HDD and rename them easily.
I'm not quite sure of the best way to do it, so it's time for a vote, how should it be done...?
Herbert can be found here (http://users.ox.ac.uk/~lady1985/hdd)

Here's a quick summary of roughly how the two options should work:
1. Add to audio library menus...
On right clicking a track, the option "rename" and "move" would also be shown. Clicking "rename" would allow the user to enter a new name for the file, and move would allow a user to select a folder on the HDD or add a new one. Moving multiple files would allow thjem to be moved to the same folder only (but could easily be done multiple times to different tracks)
2. A new tree-type section
This would involve the standard sort of tree layout and show all the files. Files could be dragged to be moved, into different folders, or renamed (same as in windows explorer for this). This would probably take me longer to get working though.
Post any questions you have here, and I'll try to respond.

Hi Stefano. Congratulations on Herbert.
I can't understand the point of moving files in HDD because it sorts the files by their IDTag and not by their positioning.. i think..

Yes, you're right.
The reason I want to implement it is because people might like to use the HDD as their audio library for their PC, and as such would like their files to have suitable names/folders. Ok, it's not a great idea. Maybe I'll leave the file management for now...
