Hi guys, i'm new to the Philips HD100, and this forum - I'm having loads of troubles, so i'm hoping you guys could help me out. (I don't really have a technical knowledge, so answers in laymans terms would be helpful!)

1) I've tried using the DMM that comes with the mp3 player as well as another HDDTool from Solon (i think thats the name). The Solon one tells me to execute the file directly from my HD100, from the root. Is the root in the system folder, or just straight onto the HDD? (actually, could somone post up a step-by-step on how to use the Solon one?)
Can the Solon and DMM be used in conjuction with each other? And can the Solon one let me transfer music files from my HDD onto my computer?

2) I've deleted some songs using my HDD but the Solon software still says it's there, and won't delete them - how can I fix this?

3) I might just re-format my HD100 and start again as I fear I may have messed things up - how do I do this?

Sorry if this is confusing - i'll probably be posting more questions soon!

1a. Root folder is the lowest folder, which is the one that is there when u open the drive.
1b. Yes they can be used in conjunction, not simultaneously....one after the other that is. E.G. if there's a problem with one tool, u can just load the other and it might fix the problem.

2. not sure..

3. a format will lose your firmware. download it from philips support site http://www.philips.com/support and re-install the firmware using DMM (or can solons tool do that too?)

I havn't used my hdd100 in a long while, not as familiar with the steps.

2. This is a bug in HDDtool, see my comments on Herbert.
The only way to get these deleted files actually deleted from the database is a rebuild HDD list command in HDDTool, or if you know what files you deleted, you can delete them from the database using herbert. next version of herbert will solve this.
Greats,
