I'm not sure how many people are familiar with Ronan Tynan, but he's the world's most famous Irish tenor, and he used to be a part of the three tenors. I was surprised that I liked his CD as much as I did (considering I was a big fan of the three tenors, I wasn't sure how much I was going to like it). I was curious to see if anyone else had heard his CD? What do you think of his music? I know that some clips of his music are up on his website (www.drronantynan.net) for anyone that has an interest in hearing it, but if you have already heard him, let me know what you think.

I listened to a sound clip and although he has a quality voice I don't think the genre suits me. The classical I listen to is a bit more generic (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin... baroque stuff mostly). Classical guitar is great... particularly live. It's amazing what a classical guitarist does with the fingers... wow.

Anyone ever listen to Flamenco? This guy is GOOD!

I like flamenco. And, although not really classical/flamenco I do like the Gypsy Kings too.

Cool man! From punk-to-flamenco, huh? When are we going to have the Neptune Guitar Channel?

When I was in SoCal (in the Navy) I used to see a couple of flamenco guitarists play in Long Beach... I was instantly hooked. I'd really like to go to Spain and catch the real thing complete with Flamenco dancers someday.
I do like the Gypsy KingsYeah... they're pretty good. I've got several of their albums. They put Spanish guitar on the map here in the U.S. The only thing I have against the Gipsy Kings is that they sound kinda "watered down" after listening to stuff from Paco de Lucia, Manolo Sanlucar, and Pepe Habichuela.

I like Paco de Lucia as well. Gypsy Kings are different then the traditional Flamenco though. And yes, I'm very eclectic when it comes to music. The only stuff I dont really like that much are Pop and Country.

Classical is pretty good, but I still love opera. Bizet's opera "Carmen" is still my favorite, but "The Magic Flute" ranks up there as well :) :cheers

The only stuff I dont really like that much are Pop and Country. You outta try the country album by the Supersuckers, "Must've Been High" (1997)... normally a hard driving rock band. Good stuff.

Normally I don't care for country too much myself. I've a few oldies like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr., etc.

Pop... well, pop is to rock what Muzak is to music.
