XP will work, NTFS is just a much better file system
Yup, XP supports FAT, but like Archon said, NTFS is much better. Plus, XP will only support *new* drive partitions greater then 40gb with NTFS. they do this on purpose to get people to use NTFS because its more stable and secure.

and besides, never make such a drastic OS upgrade, ME>XP isnt the same as 95>98, I definitly suggest you format and get a fresh install, you will find you have a much nicer time.

The fact that Microsoft did this made me pretty angry. You know that external LaCie 40GB pocket drive I have? Well I wanted it to be formatted in fat32 so it would be compatible with any system I took it too. I found out that XP will not format any drive this large, so I have to create 2 20gb partitions. What a pain in the butt.
