QUERY.. charging the HDD070

when charging my device the backlight remains on the whole time and does not turn off, is this supposed to happen?

also what icon is meant to appear when it is recharging cause i once got a little one that looked similar to a socket but now its much like a voltage symbol..
bit confusing.

The electric bolt means charging, the plug means charged and plugged into the wall. Light always stays on when charging.
