win 98 to win xp

is this true? one of my friends said that i cant use my full potential of my comps CPU (2.0 ghz) on win 98 second edition cause when they wrote it, 2.0 never existed. If i u[grade to win xp, everything will run faster? is this true? how much of a diff is there between OS's?

This is complete horse hockey....your current OS should be fine with a 2.0 GHz CPU.

Scare tactic.
HOw can your SOFTWARE, run much different if you change your hardware?
Only with drivers would there be a difference.
Consider there is a Group of ppl sueing, because the P4 isnt any different in Architecture then the P3. And we are paying MORE for it.

There are differences in the SOFTWARE. And XP may run faster then 98se. But if you like 98se, KEEP IT. If you want to update, win2000 is VERY good.
