I'm having some odd issues with the battery on my HD300 - when I plug it in to charge, it will charge for some time and then say "Battery Full" - as soon as I start it up I'll see the battery only has either 1 or 2 bars and other times it will come up saying "Battery Low"...

Does anybody else have this happen and any ideas what to do about this (other than send it in for repairs)?

ndisi08 also had a similiar problem below.

when charging, i constantly have the "battery full" message showing, but when i turn on the player and disconect the dc cable, it has only 1 bar
it said this even before the initial charge
is this normal?

Okay - so my battery problems got even worse. I let the unit charge for a full 2 hours and as soon as I unplugged it, it would say battery low and I couldn't even hear the hard-drive spin up.

I noticed one of the silver screws on top left and right was loose so I unscrewed both with an Allen key (wrench). With the screws off you can basically slide the front and top of the unit from the back.

Now with the back off you will see a battery pack and if you lift that you will see a Toshiba hard drive; I disconnected the Toshiba hard-drive (mainly for curiosity!) and reconnected that; I checked the connections to the battery from the mainboard and pushed them in to make sure they were secure and re-assembled everything.

And voila! The unit now charges fully and runs marvellously!

Of course - this may not work for you if your battery is faulty so proceed with caution as this may void your warranty (don't know how they can tell if you are careful).

cheers

Hi.
Thanks for the info,
How though do you remove the hard-drive? Do you solder it or unplug it directly?
Thanks

you can unplug it by a slight tug

however, my results weren't as sucessful
now it won't get past the mpio startup screen
:censored

EDIT: Well it will get past the startup now
but same battery problem

I'm sorry to hear that - have you tried letting the batter completely drain and then recharging?

BTW How did you get it to get past the startup screen? Was the HD loose?
