Hi there.

Having made MPIO replace my faulty hd300, I received a "new" player in the post. As soon as i turned it on I noticed that the backlight was unresponsive. Sometimes it lights up upon pressing a button, but sometimes not. It gets better the longer it is turned on...

Is this an issue with the 1.30 new firmware and should i switch back to the old one?

Also, the "auto-off" function doesn't work!!!

Also, the protected WMA files can still NOT be played!

Also, the player cannot view TXT files!

^ These functions were promised!

The backlight works fine for me on 1.30.04
Your issue sounds like a loose wire to me. It gets better the longer it is on sounds a bit like the connection expanding ever so slightly as the unit 'warms up'.

I just played around a bit with Auto-off in the last 10 minutes.

It seems to work OK, but every time I have used it in the past, I hit pause to talk to someone and by the time I was done, the unit had switched off, so I don't usually have it set on now.

It also seems to reset to 'Off' each time I start up.
I tested with 30 secs as the time, but it was 60 secs before switching off.
I tested with 60 secs as the time and it was 105 secs before switching off. A bit flaky, but it worked none the less.

I have not tried protected WMA files or to view .txt files as yet.

Anyhow, simply based on the backlight issue, I think you need another new one. :(

:cheers hi,
thanks for the info. I have no faith in mpio replacing it, since i have to send it to Holland, (i like in UK) and they will probably replace it with a more faulty player! I'll have to live with the problem!

I got the auto off to work once, but it resetted itself to "off" when turned back on :argue

I just bought an iPod leather case for it so thats cheered me up :cheers
