I really was dissapointed when they discontinued the imac monitor arm from 2002. I thought it was very versatile and innovative.

Why they went with a non adjustable monitor stand for their current models I will never understand.
Can somebody tell me who designed the 2002 monitor arm and if something similar can be purchased for PC LCD monitors?

I think Apple's ID team completely designed the arm on the 2002 iMac. The best monitor arms are made by Ergotron. On the high end of price, but absolutely 100% the best quality you will find.

There are many companies that make ARMS, NK has a good site.
Things I would suggest, is to AIM about 20+%-100% MORE in weight, tolerance at the LEAST.
say a 40 lb monitor, make it at LEAST 80lb Arm rating. It adds stability, and will take ALOT of bumps and grinds, and adjusting it ALOT wont hurt it.. Probably outlast your computer, and can use on the NEXT one.

And make sure when you look at the manu's site for your monitor that you know if that includes the base. Usually, the base of the monitor is weighted to lower the center of gravity.

Well I need something that comes close to the apple imac 2002 arm in terms of adjustability. Not only do I need it to more close to me I also need it to be able to move to the left or to the right then tilt the monitor horizontally left or right as well.
You know where I am going with this right?
I need an ultra versatile arm for the dell 24 inch I am getting. :)
How much does that monitor lcd weigh anyway? :|

Shouldnt be more then 40 lbs...

The thing you must learn. What EVER you want, you can find/get...the ONLY draw back is how much you are WILLING to pay...
If you want a self adjusting moveable ARM, mounted on a WALL(PLEASE make sure to hit a STUD, or get a carpenter to install).. BEAWARE you are looking at a fair-amount of money.. I aint looked, Im scared of that price range..We are not talking $100...
I DONT like QUICK mounts...Those things you monut on a DESK that DONT screw INTO SOMETHING SOLID....

TELL them what SIZE of monitor and they may be able to help...
