Hi

I allready downloaded this bootable cd. It is really great and so easy to use. You only have to press Enter and a Windows like desktop will boot up.

You must not install it it will run from cd. You need at least 96 mb of ram for the desktop mode.

There are a lot of programms on the cd. It recognized my sblive and my radeon without a problem. You can watch divx and dvd movies without installing a programm. open office and mozilla are also on this cd. If you want you can store youre settings on a floppy disk.

You can also use this cd to repiar your system if it doent boot from your HD.

I am no LINUXer, this thing is so easy to use...its great.

oh.. here is the link: http://www.knoppix.org/

Have fun

Not all are though. :( Althought they are much cheaper to purchase the cd then to buy windows.

There are lots of bootable cd linux distros! They are neat. The really cool ones are the ones that load up off a floppy and act as firewalls/proxies/dhcp servers (and have guis!)

You can take your old 486 w/out a hard drive and use it as a cheap firewall and dhcp server.

One bad thing is that if you have problems than all the support is in German.

Get the latest and greatest Linux distro's from this site.

U can use this english forum if you have a question .

http://www.knoppix.net/forum/

And you can download an english verion of it .( you neednīt purchase it).

so it should be no problem, you can also use the debian support for it because knoppix is based on it(but much more easier to use.)
