My music library on my media PC is a complete mess. Some are downloads from places like iTunes/eMusic, some are ripped with incomplete info etc.

I would LOVE to have a library where everything is encoded and ripped into FLAC or AAC for example. What program is everyone using to do this with? Also is the album information grabbed too?

I would use a lossless format like FLAC or AAC if you have the disk space. Which one might depend on what you play your music on. If you have a player that supports one format or the other then I'd go with it. Otherwise, I prefer FLAC because it's open source whereas AAC is owned buy Apple. With a lossless format like FLAC you can always transcode to something else.

If you don't have the disk space or desire to do lossless then I'd just stick with MP3 since it's the usniversal format supported by every player. I'd just be sure and use a very high bitrate so as to limit quality degradation. I still prefer a variable bitrate using the LAME codec and alt preset settings.

I just use MP3. Everything else is a hassle.
