Alpine's MobileHub for the Nokia 6310i Wins 2003 CES Innovations Award
"Alpine Electronics of America, announced that it is shipping the industry's first hands-free mobile phone solution that fully integrates with select Alpine aftermarket car audio head units. Alpine's MobileHub™ for the Nokia 6310i (CXA-B200NK) allows one-button call/answer, speed dialing, phone book access, and text message (SMS) alert to be controlled through nine Alpine head units and delivers superior hands-free sound quality by taking advantage of the vehicle's car audio system. MobileHub also is the first aftermarket solution that allows users to send and receive text messages through select head units when the vehicle is parked."
Very cool, but why make a mobile hub for only one brand and model? Apline should collaborate with cell phone manufacturers as a whole to develop a system that is not only compatible with a mobile phone model today, but models in the future. Personally, I would not get this system because eventually I will want a new phone. Then what would I do with my mobile hub? Seems like a waste, although certainly a cool idea.
