Someone from one of the other forum send me a zip files on how to install XP SP1 so my computer would reconize my Zen Micro! Could someone tell me if it is safe or not?
1. Run "XPKey.exe"
- Select "Windows XP Corp"
- Select "Find Key"
Num Searches: 100
Max Keys: 1
Check "Save fount Keys in Log File"
Click Process!
2. A randomly generated Product Key will be saved to a TXT file
in the same directory as the XPKey.exe
3. Click Start > Run > and enter "regedit"
4. Go to: HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Cu rrent Version\WPAEvents
5. On the right, double click on "oobetimer"
6. Change at least ONE digit to anything other than is currently displayed.
(This will DEACTIVATE Windows ... which is a good thing!)
7. Click Start > Run > and enter "%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a"
(This will pull up the activation screen)
8. Choose to Activate with a Telephone Representative
9. At the bottom, click Change Product Key
10. Enter the new, generated Product Key as given from XPKey.exe
11. Click Update
12. Close that window, and reboot. See you soon!
(Okay, hopefully you DID reboot, because it is mandatory in order for
this to work properly)
13. Click Start > Run > and enter "%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a"
(This will pull up the activation screen again. It should now read:
"Windows is already activated!")
14. Now, run "xpsp1_en_x86.exe" to install Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP 1)
