I have been looking for a video solution that allows me to take video. I need something small that fits in my jacket/shirt pocket. That's why I am choosing the C6. What do you think, will this camera be good for me or do you think I should wait for the HD1?
Thanks a lot!
abit new.
Asking these questions, may not be to reliable until someone takes it out and does a real evaluation for us. some one that has tried a few differetn models.

So you are looking for a digital camera/camcorder hybrid? Whats your price range?
http://news.designtechnica.com/article9270.html I would probably wait for the X1 then.
1. real question tho...
for what purpose?
family
sports
All around
Everyday
to make money?
what.. there are certain things that consumer products CANT do. where you would be better OFF , useing pro, or commercial quality setups.

I went to CES show last week and found the C6 is small and stylish! I love this camera! The Sanyo HD1 seems having better performance but it's a little bit bigger.
Basically, I'm looking for some all around digital media cameras for taking photos or videos for my cats. It's tapeless design may help me to share those video files easily.

I bought my wife the Panasonic Lumix FX8: http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vModelDetail?displayTab=O&storeId=15001&catalogId=13401&itemId=94211&catGroupId=24999&modelNo=DMC-FX8K&surfModel=DMC-FX8K&cacheProgram=11002&cachePartner=7000000000000005702
This camera rocks, plus it does movies too.
there is a problem they found with MOVIE and PIC systems. The lens, and speed needed for doing 1 form, makes the other HARDEr to do properly.
Movie lens, need to be BIG to let more light in, to run fast enough to record at a decent speed.
Pic systems dont NEED the broad lens, and suffer from to much light, even at high speed.
Whats NEET, is to use a Movie cam, and FILM, a picture shoot. Then with decent software, you can go thru 1 frame at a time, and PICK the 1 frame that makes the best pic.
The wait is over. I just ordered my Sanyo VCP-HD1 HD camcorder from http://www.dvnation.com/hd1.html . Might as well step up to HD now for that low price of $798. It can record and output in 720p and standard def if you don't have an HD set yet. You can beat the size, price, and tapeless recording!

SWeet, when do you get it?
The owner of www.dvnation.com says he spoke to Sanyo and they are saying that their suppliers will be receiving the units in the beginning of March, so I'm expecting to get mine within the first couple weeks of March! :) The Sanyo HD1 is the camcorder I've been waiting for!
I received my HD1 from [edited] on Friday. I really like it. I set it on a tripod and recorded a tennis match by placing the cam off to the side of the net, pointing toward one side of the court. I was thrilled with the result. I played it back on my 123" screen using a Toshiba projector. I wasn't even in the highest quality HD mode and it looked great. Subtle details jump out at you that you just don't see with any SD camcorder out there. Like the where the paint scheme of the racquets change around the head of the racquet. Even recording the fast motion of the tennis ball was surprisingly good. I also used it in an indoor warehouse setting with flourescent lighting and it looked great! Stereo sound is also good. I'm using a 2GB SD card but have ordered a couple of 4GB cards to see if they will work too. I didn't not have to load any software on my computer for playback. It just works. You copy the files off the card. The OLED screen is truely gorgeous. Service from dvnation.com was instant. Highly recommended! If ya'll have any questions about my experience with the cam, let me know.
I read somewhere on here who had the Sanyo VPC-HD1 on stock, but just wanted to let you guys know that the guys over at {edited} also have the 4GB SD card! I received mine today. I'm currently filling the card by recording a second shot. My first program was was just over 45 minutes long and took up 2,237,595,648 MB out of 3,998,220,2008 bytes of available space. My second shot filled the card with another 15 minutes. So that's 60 minutes of recording in SHQ mode (the higher of the two HD modes). This should equate to 30 mins of recording if you buy just the 2GB card. But remember, 60 minutes is what you get on a standard miniDV tape, so its a pretty big feat that you can already get that much time in HD mode on a 4GB flash disk. I sent in a couple stills that I shot and he's going to post them and I hope to take a little footage for you guys and gals too! I love this cam!
And how much ROOM on a mini DV???
DONT think this is much of an improvement..
MiniDV / DV
The "L" cassette is about 120 x 90 x 12 mm and can record up to 4.6 hours of video (6.9 hours in EP/LP). The better known MiniDV "S" cassettes are 65 x 48 x 12 mm and hold either 60 or 90 minutes of video depending on whether the video is recorded at Standard Play (SP) or Extended Play (sometimes called Long Play) (EP/LP). 80 minute tapes are also available and can record 120 minutes of video in EP/LP mode. The tapes sell for less than USD 4 each as of 2005. DV on SP has a helical scan track width of 10 micrometres, while EP uses a track width of only 6.7 micrometres.
Software is currently available for ordinary home computers which allows users to record any sort of computer data on MiniDV cassettes using common DV decks or camcorders. A 60-minute MiniDV tape will hold approximately 13 Gigabytes of data in this form of usage as the DV video format has a constant data rate of 3.6 Megabytes per second (3.6 MB/s x 60 seconds x 60 minutes = 12,960 MB per hour, divided by 1024 = 12.66 GB per hour).
Looseing 6:1 in size?? Im wondering whats been lost. Or is this the comercial version and not the PRO...
