RIAA Drops ISP Suit; Goes After Verizon
http://www.buddhacon.com/modules.php...rticle&sid=476
"A China-based file-swapping site it wanted ISPs to block access to has since gone offline; but recording industry still wants Verizon to cough up the name of an Internet access subscriber accused of 'significant music piracy. The Recording Industry Association of America has withdrawn a lawsuit against four U.S. Internet service providers, saying it no longer needs to force the ISPs to block users' access to a rogue music file-sharing site that has since gone offline. However, a separate action to force another ISP, Verizon Communications' (Quote, Company Info) Internet services division, to identify a user the RIAA accuses of online music piracy, lives on. " The RIAA scares me, they are viscous sharks.

I happen to work at a community college. We had to pull our web radio presence offline due to all the new pricing structure governing the use of copywritten material.
Typically you get a ASCAP licence to play copywritten music using ANY broadcast method. They based the pricing structure on delivery method as opposed to a flat rate. The internet pricing was based on the amount of hits you would receive over a year (100,000 and below, 100,000 - 200,000 etc...) The actual pricing method is the same but the prices have gone up a HUGE amount. We just couldn't afford to keep it up. THAT SUCKS to say the least.... ![]() rudeboy |

I personally like seeing the two evils fight. I just hope my rates do not go up as a result!
