headphones for snowboarding?
Hi all I've been lookin at headphones for awhile now trying to decide which would be best for snowboarding. At first I thought maybe in ear phones (specifically the sony ex51's, 71's, or 81's) would be best but after much thinkin I decided that I didn't like any phones that had to be put into the ear (ears always get irritated with prolonged use, and especially for snowboarding, I'd hate to put something cold into my ear...that and i'd hate to have to clean up the earwax after takin a trip into my ear lol)
Sooooo i decided that maybe behind the neck or clip on phones would be better. I don't really want to spend too much..wanted to stay in the $20-25 range...since I probably won't use them too much outside of snowboarding, maybe if i ever go on some long trips, but lately I've been leaning towards the sony q66lw's cuz they just look damn cool anyway i wanted to look for some headphones that would stay on well while doin somethin like snowboardin, and also be comfortable while wearin glasses at the same time. Anybody wanna help me out?! ![]() |

Think about what you are looking for.
Individual cups, would be nice, as NO hard piece in back. Small enough, or BIG enough not to damage ear, in a crash.. Dont want ANYTHING in the ear. Also either something PADDED, or Totally nothing to it.. Padded so you have protection from COLD, or NOTHING, so that you can cover it from the COLD. I wouldnt want a piece of cold plastic NEAr my ear. Lots of comapanies make interesting units. But we may NOT be in the venue you are looking in, we may not know the things that coulds make this hazardous. Sit an wait a few, someone should be in.. this is a LONG weekend.

At $25, pretty much just go with your gut. You're not going to get good cans for that price regardless. When you hit $50, you can begin to get picky.
You are correct that you don't want in your ear style. One good high speed impact and you would probably go deaf. Can't use the in ear buds, since they fall out so easily. I would go for a pair that clip on to each ear. Sony's would be fine, but don't scoff at Koss. They're cheap, but genreally better than Sony. |

Actually as luck would ahve it, I found the PERFECT snowboarding headphones today! My sister got them for her iPod while she walks to and from classes in Chicago. They're called the 180's by JVC. No idea on the sound quality, but they have a built in ear warmer and cost under $20.
Not sure where she found em, and I can't find them on the JVC site, but here's a store: http://www.holabirdsports.com/cgi-bin/product?product=050545 |

cool nice find neuro
![]() turns out 180s isn't the product name for JVC, 180s is the actual company who makes it www.180s.com i also looked around for some similar stuff (ear warmers with music), and i think there's one made by polar fusion or something like that...not too sure since i didn't look too much into it...looked like just oversized headphones that go behind the neck lol hm...further poking around on their site i did find that they say their ear warmer/headphone combo ($40) is powered by jvc headphones, although the actual headphones that they sell separately don't mention anything about it.. Ah that makes sense. I just looked at the bottom of the box they came in for the manufacturer. I want to say that my sister found them at Nordstroms of Bloomingdale's, so at least the build quality has to be decent.
Now you have shiver and ![]() |
