THEY DONT...We are the OLD hats, we are the ones that LEARNED THIS long ago... WE learned from our mistakes( I HOPE). IF there were 10% of those in the world that KNEW ENOUGH... We are among those FEW...And it AINT NEAR 10%. You have knowledge, I have some, others have some and we share it among those WHO need it. If we could GIVE 10% of our shared knowledge to others to get them to understand HOW LONG would it take them to LEARN....YEARS, ALOT of YEARS... Hardware, software, drivers, AV, trojans, How to be carefull, what to look for, what is an MP3, coding programming, comparitive shopping... we are talking about a country bot on his FIRST journey into the BIG CITY.... And trying to explian to them, HIDE YOUR MONEY, DONT TRUST ANYONE, Watch your clothes shoes, and PAY your BILLS. WE are the MASTIF, the Bull dog, Security system(on there home) that he walks with to protect himself. And even that isnt enough with someone with a GUN, or knows tha backdoors to there OS and THRU the firewalls. If they had OUR knowledge they would NEVER come to the BIG CITY, or the net... MAYBE to the fringes to go shopping, but NEVEr to stay or live.

You get a Popup that asks, Do you WANT THIS, and you say YES... AV protects you in multiple ways. The primary means of protection are two ways, through email and through complete brute force scans. Popups don't usually don't install backdoors but they can install spyware. There is a difference. Trojans and Bots ARNT always Milicious/Mean/BAD cause damge, they sit there and gather info, take Processing time , and connection speed OFF your system. There are different types of bots and trojans as well as spyware each allow the attacker to do different things. You are waving around terms without knowing the definition. Spyware gathers information and doesn't physically change data or allow unauthorized access. Bots aren't even something that is normally assoicated with viruses because they can do alot of different things and almost are never on the system unless the person installed them on purpose. I pointed out that JUST being on the NET, can be the problem, and HOW to avoid ALOT of it.. Other option is NOT TO USE WINDOWS.. But that will NEVER happen. Making a book, would DO LITTLE. They still want to Wonder around the net... AND there will ALWAYS be a chance of PROBLEMS. Im old school.. What is the WORSE VIRUS you have seen? I have seen the one that ERASES your BIOS. TALK about FUN. THANK GOD, I had a copy... From an upgrade... AV is fine, but I HOPE it dont go the way of the BIT copier of OLD. They always changed, and later versions DIDNT copy NEW protections, but the OLD ones WOULD. Funny aint it.

Look you seem to think its hopeless situation. That's not the right answer or the right message we should be portraying. Using the programs that I mentioned above it will protect 99.9% of the people out there. If you use the right programs of course because some are better than others.
In the case that OS is a couple years old and things aren't just working like they used to. I seriously recommend a complete format/reinstall of the OS. Gets rid of a lot of junk that people download/install and forget about. Ranting is about what people should do in the forums is not the best way to approach the sitation. Give them advice specific to their problem and recommend that they read a couple books on how to take care of your computer better. If you rant about stuff that is related but not specfic to the question they asked then no one is going to read it and you haven't helped anyone.

the comment we should Foster is. FIGHT.. we can STOP/SLOW 99.9%. But you have to UPDATE EVERY weeek AT THE LEAST. We have to FIND better programs and USE THEM. MORE isnt always better, haveing 2,3 or 4 AV is just Stupid... DONATE to those companies that GIVE you GREAT FREE SOFTWARE, we WANT them to STAY AROUND.. Set EMAIL to TXT(TEXT) ONLY READ/SEND.. None of your friends send HTML so why READ it in HTML. when you use a LINk on a site/ or REDIRECT...WATCH THE BOTTOM of your BROWSER, it tells you WHATS HAPPENING...If you dont understand it,, DONT DO IT. LETS protest those companies that are DOING this STUFF, the ones we can find that is. LETS RAID there emails and contact/forward there info to services to STOP IT. We need a LIST/POST of links to REPORT sites and Bots...there are ALOT of them. We also need those in other countries as well. Only way to CURB the SPAM and the Bot/trojans is the BE aware and REPORT it.. Just CLEANING it off, isnt helping and WE/US can be active against it.. IF nothing else, lets find a lawyer. I think he would make BIG BUCKS agaisnt these guys.

AV dont stop or FIND trojans/Bots/Backdoors/Dialers/RELOADERS/and ALOT of other crap..
They only TRY to kill virus and MALWARE..
