This product looks very very interesting. DO you guys think 20GB would be enough storage? I love that it has DivX support. Those of you who decide to download or rip DVD's to DivX will love this ability.

"AG: Does it or will it (future versions) have Wi-Fi connectivity, built-in TV tuner, PDA functionality, built-in speakers?
KC: Yes, if the consumers need such functions, we will support these functionalities in future models."

Answers like this always scare me because is gives no direct indication of whether it will have these features. Anything is ALWAYS possible with future models, but what about the current model?

I do not think it matters whether it will support FireWire or not, USB 2.0 should be good enough in my opinion.

So is this using a proprietary operating system?

This whole portable media player niche is really exciting to me, I cannot wait to see what else comes out.

I like the idea. It will have to compete with the portable DVD player market. It probably takes 30 min to an hour to transfer a movie to this thing. I don't think 20 Gig is enough for HD type quality stuff but if they are compressing and reducing the size to fit on that screen than they will get away with the reduced storage.

Thumbs down Stay Away from this unit.

I owned this unit for 5 months. The unit is nicely designed. But the firmware, the GUI, and the company is horrible.
Its really a joke. Overall the unit was rushed with a firmware that is only half done. I have had beta release sent to me via Mobinote, but none were anything major or fixed any of the real problems. Real problem is that the LCD runs at a refresh rate of 25 FPS. Meaning that when you play back a TV show or a movie, it drops frames. Causing this stutter look. In theory, they could fix it with a software fix that would interpolate the frames. I have had many many people complain about this stutter problem. Mobinote wrote an email to me from there service in TW that said they know its a problem, it will be fixed in the next firmware release. The firmware came, and no fix to the problem. Then they started denying that it was a problem. Then I showed them that the email they sent claimed that it was a problem. This company is a joke. And any magazine awards or high praises should be questioned on there validity. Firmware updates are very very rare. Its better to go with a Archos AV 700 or a Sony PSP. This unit DVX-POD is not worth the money.

Thanks for the heads up, I was actually thinking about buying this product. What would be a better alternative? Maybe an Archos?

I have been thinking about the Palm LifeDrive, but at $500 I think I want more storage space than 5GB.
