Sony PSP pictures
The first glimpse of the PlayStation Portable – or, at least, look at the device’s conceived look – was offered by Sony at its Corporate Strategy Meeting in New York last night.
Sony unveiled the production visual in a meeting that also underlined the increasing power of the SCE and PlayStation elements of the company’s business. PlayStation boss Ken Kutaragi hosted a presentation that touched upon not only the PSP, but also the imminent PSX with a much emphasised push on the new PlayStation unit’s role as a ‘home server’. As for the PSP design, the visualised look for the unit features a widescreen display and a style many have already likened to an Apple iPod. At the same time, the originally mooted added Dual Shock stick and shoulder buttons are absent from this production design, suggesting that the machine could well change shape considerably between now and the launch in late 2004. Sorry for the small picture this is all I could find. If you do find larger pics, please post them.

oh my goodness.
I wonder what the price tag on that thing will be. Is the launch going to be in the US as well?

I like it. I don't know if I care for the lanyard or the buttons though. The lanyard overall is a good idea I supppose but to me it detracts from the high tech feel. As far as the buttons go, it seems cool they are flat, but won't they be hard to find? Anyway I'm impressed and plan to buy the PSP when it's released. I know this is only a concept, though. I read an article that said Japanese gamers were complaining about the length of the system. Based on the length of the UMD, they estimate the PSP's length to be about 19cm (about 7.5 inches). That's fairly long if the measurement is accurate.

WOW Looks very cool.
I bet it will cost more than a normal PS2. Any hints on its GFX capabilities?
