I have a high-end Sharp LCD in my family room that I love, and it does pretty good at an angle and in brightly lit room. I also have my 58" plasma (Panasonic) in my media room which I think blows away any LCD out there. I think both types of sets have their place. For ream movie buffs, LCD doesn't compare though I am afraid.

hmm I worry that Mitsubishi might be the only one doing this and the other company's will not adopt this new technology though.

In the article, under the LCD section, Krissy Rushing says:
"No risk of image retention—Unlike plasma, there is absolutely no fear of image retention on an LCD display. " Absolutely no fear of image retention? With all due respect, Ms. Rushing is absolutely wrong. LCDs are notorious for image retention/burn-in. Last week I just bought a new LCD display because my old one had suffered from moderate image burn-in from routine use over the last 3 and a half years. The owner's manual of my new unit dedicates THREE PAGES on image retention -- what it is and how best to prevent it. I'm not sure where Ms. Rushing got the idea that LCDs don't suffer from this problem, but rest assured, the article needs to be corrected. |
