Exclamation Your Tivo pricing is out of date.

I just signed up for Tivo with DirecTV and thought you might like to know what they are charging me. I purchased a Samsung SIR-S4040R DVR for $99 ($115 after taxes and delivery) and pay $4.99 per month for the service.
This is just FYI.

Don't count retail HTPCs out so quickly

The article is quoted as saying, "The retail HTPCs are generally based on Microsoft’s Media Center edition of Windows XP, and don’t offer (at least out of the box) the true functionality of HTPCs."

I'm very curious as to what the author believes is the "true functionality" of an HTPC, that (according to this author) is so lacking from retail media center pcs.

While the article seemed thorough, I'm very surprised to see the entire market of retail media center pcs reduced to a one liner like this. Too bad, the other segments of the market seemed well covered in the article.

Ioman will become famous soon enough
I thought the article was well written, but just too short for such a broad subject. It definately could be broken into multiple articles to that HTPC's got more of a fair shake.

I think that the HTPC still has yet to be defined, but new standards and requirements are at least helping to refine that market.
