Any good A/V network media devices that DON'T require "media server" software?

My Turtle Beach Audiotron will scan for MP3's on any SMB share, and play them. I want a similar device that also works for a wide spectrum of video files, streaming them to my stereo/TV. I'm using a linksys NSLU2 (Network storage link) that shares a USB2 hard drive full of media as a windows/SMB share. The audiotron can see it just fine. Since it can't run any media server software, I'm trying to find a device that doesn't need PC software. Does any such beast exist?!?!?
