Logitech DiNovo
Nice, but it does have issues.
1. Takes about 10sec for Mouse to initiate AFTER logging into Windows. 2. Typing text, keyboard tends to stall at times, not displaying the text right away. 3. Cannot input alternative ASCII characters via <ALT> + <number combination> (i.e. <ALT>+<0191>=¿). This is a big issue for some of us. No ñ ¿ ¡ é ç ¼ ½ ¾ for content work or translating from and to other languages (English, French, Spanish, etc.) 4. Cradle cord is way short had to move my PC closer to my work space (pretty cheap, I think) Logitech has confirmed issue #3, but gave me a lame reason for #1 & #2, that keyboard & mouse goes into 'sleep' mode to conserve battery... though these issues happen when I am currently using the devices.

G,
Thats funny...REALLY.... How easy would it be that Each button is an ON SWITCH. and transmitts only when pressed? Its like a remote controll dont use power until you push the button. That is a BAD problem. What a waste.

I love the DiNovo setup.
1) Big deal. Everything is so god awful slow as Windows starts, what are you gonna do? Render LOTR before Norton loads? Besides, it's more like 3-5 seconds after you move the mouse. 2) I've had the keyboard lose sync once in 3 months of use. At around 14" away. 3) Eh, stick with english. Never ran into this problem. Besides, programs like Word translate 1 + / + 2 into ½. 4) The design idea behind this is that the cradle would be placed on top of close to the CPU. Not hard to image, since the wires running across the desk look crappy. You're supposed to care about appearance with this keyboard/mouse, so you want to eliminate cable clutter that is visible. Running the cord across the room ruins this effect. Besides, you could always shell out for a USB extension cord, while you can't just snip and resolder the connections to eliminate cable clutter. And ECA, no not each button. The transmitter goes into sleep to save battery and pressing any key wakes it up. But I think it has to sit for 10-15 minutes for this to happen. All in all I love this setup, and will post a review soon after I get back home next week. |

Thanks for your comments neuroking... though I must say you miss the point.
I o do enjoy many aspects of the DiNovo, though I never expected some of the annoyances I found with the DiNovo. Reason why I wrote my comment… for that’s all it was. As for your comments, especially regarding #3, I do find arrogant and uncalled for. 1. Per the startup... not a big deal, but it does happen. On my PC, right when Windows loads the desktop, I can move the cursor around, then it stalls for about 5-10secs... why... no idier. This seems to be with everyone’s devices. Some people’s stalling for up to 30sec. 2. Keyboard doesn't loose sync (not the issue)... it stalls when entering text sometimes. Like when in a data base (like in a product for your beloved Word, MS Office Suite… Access). This happens at times when jumping from one cell to another... these seconds do add up, and at times, I not sure if text was entered or not. This is not an issue of 'once a month'. 3. I am not just going to stick with English. I have projects that require English, French and Spanish, inputting alternative ASCII characters in programs such as PageMaker, Quark, InDesign, Illustrator, and a slew of other Macromedia software. Word I hardly use, due to it’s lack of desktop publishing power. 4. It's just an opition... the powe cord is long enough, though the USB cord I find a little short. You’re probably right… oh well. I’ll give you this one… though I would prefer a slightly longer cord. Overall, yes... I do find this product to be good for the most part and perhaps for most users. Though for myself, I will only use it for my media center pc... for when it comes to 'my productivity', ‘I’ do find issues with it. Anywhoo, do hope your other comments in other forums more understanding to other peoples productivity and way of doing things. Cheerz, Goozy. :-)

This is bluetooth?
So you must wait for the driver to load to do anything? Hate to have to go to DOS at startup. but it should work, unless its Built in BT. having it external is nice as its the reciever that needs the signal and NOT the comp. Sence its an external reciever(im comparing what I have used as wireless) and its connected to the USB. Its the reciever that must get the signal and send to USB, just as any KB. Have you tried a generic KB driver?? So what you wont get the special keys. The reciver is what you are dealing with., and its just like a USB KB. I have a KB from logitech, its great, and has LOTS of keys, but I dont use the driver. I dont get the extra keys is all that happens. TRY IT.

As for the DELAY...
Im wondering if it may be best to keep the reciever AWAY from the monitor, magnetic fields, and speakers....They can cause you problems... Its also a bit funny, that the BT HUB/reciever si your mouse cradle... I would think there would be a better way. A second chargeing stand you can place on a coffee table...?

Ummm. WHY. could have a connected KB, and not have any problems at all. Dealing with PACKETS, this is what wireless USES. can suck. Packets of data, can really be a pain.. Unless you are transmitting 1,2,4,8,16bits at a time, it can be a pain. As most packets are 32-1k blocks, then it WAITS for more data(just in case), then sends it to the comp. UNLESS you can tell it the SCOURCE is only sending 1-16 bit data, it lags. If you play GAMES, it can REALLY suck.

You should be able to without having any problems. In fact, both mice will probably work.
